"Smelly feet cake"



Well, tonight while I was reading to Piper in bed I asked her if we should make Daddy a cake for when he comes home? She replied...

"yes, a smelly feet cake Mummy"
"what?"
"a smelly feet cake"...giggle
"yuk"
"nooooo, it's very yummy"...giggle giggle
"I don't think Daddy will like smelly feet cake Piper"
"yes, he has extreeeemely smelly feet...hahahahahahahahahahaha!" raucous giggling and snorting!

sign her up..we're going to David Letterman!

on the flip side, we have decided to make chocolate Guinness cupcakes for Daddy when he gets home. His favorite beverage made into a cupcake...he can supply the smelly feet!

What does the Queen like for her tea...

...scones of course, and a cup of tea!

Piper & I decided to bake this afternoon since it's miserable outside. What better to cheer two girls up than a batch of organic choc chip/orange scones! YUMMO!

First you have to mix the dough...Piper kept eating the chocolate chips but once there was baking soda on them she grimaced a little but still ate them! the look on her face was priceless but the quest for chocolate was strong...she has jedi powers when it comes to any thing chocolat!

Piper took the 'painting' part very seriously, as well as the sprinkling of turbanado sugar on the tops...lets just say she was a little heavy handed on the sucre.



Once they were cut and placed on the cookie tray she HAD to count them...I don't know why, but she figured there were sixteen and at least fifteen belonged to her! As she was counting she pointed out a few that belonged specifically to her? Perhaps they were the ones with the most visible choc chips...smart girl!



A watched oven never bakes...well, it does if you only have 12 minutes to wait!

Monday Menu plan...on Monday!

Since it's just me & the kiddo we are eating out of the freezer and pantry this week...see what we can scrounge up and make into something warm & yummy for the blustery wet & windy week we will be having in Minnesota!

Monday - crock pot chicken curry with peppers and cilantro basmati rice..thrown together Sunday night and popped on low this morning...it already smells delicious!

Tuesday - fish & chips (we didn't end up eating them last week!)

Wednesday - shepards pie...organic beef, onions, garlic, carrots & peas covered in lashings of cheesy mashed white sweet potatoes and served with green beans as a side.
UPDATE : pizza, mummy was sick

Thursday - asian noodles with tofu, bok choy, red pepper and black bean sauce...we just make this up as we go and use one of the MANY different kinds of noodles that I buy every time I go to the Asian market. it's quick, easy and yummy!
UPDATE: chicken noodle soup with lots of carrots and celery and garlic toast...just what the DR ordered...I feel better already!

Friday - Pizza.
UPDATE: I'll make the shepards pie for tonight! Now that I'm feeling better!

Saturday - Daddy's Home!!!! Steak, baked potato and veges and brownies with ice cream!

Sunday - dinner at our local Mexican restaurant!

There it is...all food is either in the fridge, freezer or pantry...all I need is the Steak for Saturday!

a prayer for a friend



Tonight Piper & I said a prayer for a special friend in a far off land who is hospitalized with a respiratory illness that is baffling doctors. This person is very close to our hearts and we are very worried about her.

please take a moment to send healing wishes and prayers to her.

Today Mike flew to China. We dropped him at the airport and full of excitement and expectation Piper asked him...

"are you bringing Paisley home from China Daddy?"

Mike was crestfallen. I told him I'd explain to her as he needed to get through security. We had a lovely talk on the way home and Piper understands that Daddy is in China for business but as soon as we know where Paisley is we will send her a blankie and some books, and as soon as China says it's okay for us to come and get her we will. She nodded and tears welled up in her eyes, and she said "but I need her"...whoa, my beautiful daughter is already in love with her sister.

We were at the fabric store the other day and Piper said "I need to make Paisley a blankie Mummy, what if she doesn't have a blankie???" so we picked out some fleece. Then I asked Piper if she would like one too...she was so happy that we will be making them 'together' and picked out some Tinkerbell fabric. Such a kind heart in someone so little. I am so proud of her.

When the lady handed us the fabric Piper burst out "this is for Paisley, she is in CHINA, she is my SISTER!"
