Lumpy-ectomy

Yesterday was a big day for us all, we got up with the birds, dropped Piper off at our neighbors house in her jammies and headed to the Hospital. We met with all the people who would be in with Paisley during her surgery...of course the Chief of Pediatric surgery was doing her procedure and we really like him, the anesthesiologist was another story...what a jackhole! Let me just say, he has to be great at what he does, but his bedside manner sucked a kumera(a kiwi saying that means he stunk!), obviously what matters most is that he is a good at what he does, which I was assured of by the Chief! Michael & I made the request to stay with Paisley until she had been put to sleep, we were very calm and very clear that this was our intention. Dr Wanker however couldn't stand not having the last word

"well, this is purely for your benefit, not hers"

hehe...Mike and I simultaneously let him have it....citing adoption attachment and bonding and the importance of us being beside her until she was asleep. Like I said...jackhole.

In the end Mike was allowed to suit up and stay with Paisley until she went to sleep. We also requested a Vascular Specialist to start the IV, we told him he gets three tries then he must call one in. They did SEVEN tries before they got a line in,...no Vascular Specialist...next time they will believe me I'm sure!

The surgery went remarkably well, the surgeon didn't even have to shave her head! Lumpy was whisked off and is enjoying a stay at the tissue bank where he will be used for research(I did tell them if they cloned Paisley we'd like first dibs)

lumpy prior to surgery

sans lumpy...cool huh, the stitches are disolveable and all we need to do is put neosporin on twice a day and not wash her head for 5 days...you'd never even know she had a massive lump there earlier!

I am so glad to hear that it all went so well (minus a few mishaps). At least it is all over! Thanks for sharing the great news!

That is so wonderful! I am hoping I haven't missed something. Are they fully expecting the lump to be benign? I doesn't even looked like they did anything to her! What wonderful knews. BTW~I had surgery in December and I think I had the same anethiesiologist. He was a real jerk. Give me a break that you staying with her benefits only you! That would have benefitted me as a child if I was having surgery and I wasn't adopted. What an idiot.
So glad she is doing well. She is so incredibly beautiful. Congratulations on a successful surgery.

Amazing! Wonderful!! So glad to hear you're all done with Mr. Lumpy... you AND Paisley :)
I like that word: jackhole. I might have to pull that one out someday... if I run into a really rude, stuck up anesthesiologist ;)
Hugs to all!!

Wow lumpy was larger than I thought. You can't even tell it was ever there. Farewell lumpy. Sorry about the jackhole but glad she is good as new. Hopefully no discomfort for cutie patootie.

Yay for lumpy being gone! My sister had a jackhole of an anesthesioligist when she gave birth to my nephew. At one point she was crying(after pushing for 2 and 1/2 hours!) and he walked in and said "What are you crying for? Having a baby is supposed to be a joyous occasion". I swear I have never come so close to killing another human being as I did that day!

I'm happy to hear that all went well. Minus the jackhole. My daughter Olivia has been put under twice now and we have stayed with her both times.
I really enjoy reading your blog : ) Hope Paisley is feeling well.

Amazing and wonderful! I'm glad it went so well, other than Ms. Jackhole. Anesthesiologists are rarely known for their stunning interpersonal skills I know, but yours sounds a lot more deficient than usual. I'm glad its the last time you shall hopefully ever need to deal with him.

That is so amazing. I am so happy that it was just lumpy and no big deal. Now no more worries and down to the day to day beautiful living.

Paisley's head looks great post-surgery!!!
It really bugs me when people think our adopted children should just be left like other children. I did leave Johanna in the nursery for the first time last Sunday. She did great!!!

Woo Hooo!! Although I was sort of fond of Mr. Lumpy in a strage sort of way. He seemed nice enough. Just hanging out, along for the ride. Im sure he will be doing fine stuck in a jar of alcohol on a shelf in a medical school some where. Adios Mr. Lumpy. Good luck with your new gig.

And Congrats to Paisley and your beautiful head!!!

I am so happy that Paisley's surgery went so well. She looks great! By the way, I have to remember the term jackhole, that is so great. I am so glad sweet little Paisley is doing well and sorry you had to deal with that idiot jackhole. Why can't people be a little more sensitive?

Hugs,
Jonni
