I'm a little confused?
Let me see if I have this straight.....
* If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're 'exotic, different.'
* Grow up in Alaska eating moose burgers, a quintessential American story.
* If your name is Barack, you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
* Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, and you're a maverick.
* Graduate from Harvard law School, and you are unstable.
* Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.
* If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black president of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a constitutional law professor, spend 8 years as a state senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state senate's Health and Human Services Committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs Committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.
* If your total resume is: local weather girl [I thought she was a sportscaster?], 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, and 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive.
* If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian.
* If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian.
* If you advocate teaching responsible, age-appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control [and educating kindergartners on how not to be the victim of a sexual predator], you are eroding the fiber of society.
* If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence-only sex education in your state's school system, with no other option, while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you're very responsible.
* If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America's.
* If you're husband is nicknamed 'First Dude', with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.
OK, much clearer now.

I'm with you. I am terrified of the possibility that Sarah Palin could be President for many reasons. I believe she is ridiculously unqualified and seems to be impulsive. I can't believe that McCain wanted to win this election badly enough to put the country in this position. Obama picked a VP who could actually be a respectable presidential candidate. I really believe that we need a president who will think before acting.

Love the pics of the girls, but hope I can toss in a little more controversy :).. I certainly don't approve of what McCain did as far as his divorce (and he admits it was one of his 'moral failures') being a P.O.W. can produce incredible stresses on relationships of all sorts..

BUT, I have to say what Edwards (Dem. poster boy for family values?) has done beats ANYTHING. Here he is caught w/ his pants down in a posh CA. hotel after a fling w/ his long time mistress while his dying wife and mother of his children is waiting at home, homeschooling their children.

It's ok not to post this.. it's totally up to you as you have the right to moderate all comments from those of us on the 'other' side! :)

Susan,
it's true there are indescretions on both sides and in both parties, but this isn't about Edwards at this stage in the game, it's about perceptions...and the far right have just got it wrong....they are selling something that just isnt what it is, I'm astounded by the fact that anyone can support this current government, or plan on voting in the same party...to me, that is completely insane!

As far as Palin goes...I cannot wait to see her crash and burn. I cannot believe a VP candidate would shy away from interviews, miss press ops, and basically HIDE from the public! The country needs to know who she is, and whether she can stand on her own, because quite frankly McCain looks nearer to the grave than he ever has and frankly that scares me to death!

The world is watching

Haley, very well said! I want to add that the republican party should have had John McCain evaluated by a psychiatrist after his selection of Sarah Palin. OMG. People are voting for her because she is pro-life?! That is even crazier. She is not pro-life folks. She supports the war. That in itself is a form of abortion! What mother in her right mind (she is crazy) would sign her child up for a war that there is no end and no winners. I'm pro-choice. NO I don't agree with abortion. But the alternative is much greater. Do we want women out of desperation killing themselves due to not being able to seek medical care? And what about the children who are being raped or incest of the young? Making a child gift birth to a baby is criminal. Imagine the trauma that child will suffer the rest of their lives by going through such an experience. This can not be the only reason republicans are voting for that whack job. She stands for nothing and she is no more qualified to be the Vice President of the United States than my three year old twins. I'm hopeful the American people see through this smoke screen.

oh, and if we're delving into stuff that apparently 'doesn't matter'...our Commander and Cheif was/is an Alcoholic and was arrested for DWI! How 'bout them apples.

lets focus on whats ahead shall we
