International Adoption Clinic Visit

Today we took Miss Paisley to the IAC at the UMN. We are so impressed with the people at this clinic that we cannot speak highly enough of them. The Doctors were so well prepared for Paisley, had read her entire chart and records and were ready to get moving on tests and evaluations. We were there three hours and will be returning for labwork in the next week or two (when BXBS finds the time to add Paisley to our insurance).

We did get accurate measurements and if you can believe it Paisley is 28.5" long and 17lbs 9oz's! She is a string bean! Now if someone could just tell me where she is on the Chinese growth charts in %'s I'll be a happy Mumma!

Paisley was evaluated by an Occupational Therapist, every child adopted internationally who visits the Clinic gets evaluated so that they can have a baseline to compare her progress in the moths ahead. As we thought, Paisley is a few months behind in the gross motor skills area, and a little behind in the fine motor skills. The wonderful thing, is that she is doing 150% more than she was just a few weeks ago! She can now wave bye bye and says "bye" she knows 'Mumma' and Dadda' and says both. She can sign 'milk' and 'bath' and goes pee & poop on the potty (elimination communication - thank you China!), she eats table food, claps, belly laughs, imitates her sister, and sleeps 10-12 hours a night! AMAZING!

In a few weeks Paisley will have to return to the IAC at UMN for an MRI, along with a rather large line up of blood work and some chromosomal tests (the latter is required due to her birth defect). Overall though, the Doctors thought she was doing really well and are excited to follow her progress in the coming months.

That is so GREAT!! Dont you feel so good when you know that they have spent that extra time to know whe thet are talking too!!!

I HATE going to the doctors and they ask you "What is wrong with you again" Even though they have your notes right in front of them!

This link will take you to the growth charts for Southern China. I use them for Kieren.

Looks like your little sweetie is in the 40%-50% range on height and weight. (The charts are easier to read than the graphs.)

Glad your appointment went well!!!

So glad to hear all the wonderful news about how great she is doing. You have two very smart girls. I remember Piper was signing two to three words right away. I guess that means you're a great teacher. Sounds like everything is going well with all of you were blessed with a child that sleeps..how lucky. I will be crying to you in just a few short weeks when I am waking up every 2 hrs.
So glad you love the doctors and they taking good care of her.
Miss you guys and look forward to pictures when you get the chance.
