Our little sugar-booger and the toast that tamed her appetite

On Sunday we went into Minneapolis to visit with our friends Matt & Rachel. We drove to a local breakfast joint and waited 25 minutes to be seated, which was fine, the food looked and smelled wonderful so whats a few minutes in the grand scheme of things?

We ordered coffee and an array of breakfast goodies and started chatting. Of course grown ups talking is never interesting to a child, so Piper started getting restless after about 20 minutes. We managed to get one of the wait staff to bring us something to entertain her for 10-15 minutes but by this point she was STARVING as were the grown ups. All that was on the table was a jug of creamer and a bowl of raw sugar lumps....before I could say "are you out of your mind" Mike broke down and inserted one of these blocks of pure sugar into Pipers mouth. I'm getting dizzy just thinking about it! Well, all was good for another 10 minutes but still no food and the fidgets started...at this point, we were all hungry and the caffeine was making us silly....four cups no food, who doesn't go bonkers..so I snuck another lump her way...FINALLY the food arrived. It was delicious, but the wait sucked. Next time I will make sure I have ample snackaroos in my purse! Check out the size of that brioche toast and the homemade lingonberry jam! When we got home a serious toothbrushing adventure was called for!

Oh your not the first to shove a lump of sugar into their child's mouth - but it is gross to think about!!
