teach small hands to give
A month or so ago I contacted Love without Boundaries, they are a fantastic charity that does so much work to improve the lives of children in Orphanages all over China. I contacted them specifically because they have a program working with Qujiang Social Welfare Institute which is where Piper spent the first 10 months of her life.
Mike & I think it is vitally important as parents of a daughter from China, and for Piper to give back to those who care for the children in these orphanages. In 2005 we travelled to get Piper and were lucky enough to visit the orphanage and meet the two Directors and the Nannies that work there. We were extremely impressed because the situation at Qujiang was quite possibly one of the 'best case scenarios' due to the generosity of parents that came before us. One of the reasons all the children in our travel group were so healthy was because of a formula donation program set up by LWB that supplies the children with the BEST formula available in China! We are part of this program now and hope to continue for many years to come.
So...after hearing back from Jan at LWB it seems Qujiang has several other needs that we would like to help with. If you are at all interested in making a donation to LWB for the Qujiang project please click here. Please make a note on your tax deductible donation that your money is to be earmarked for 'Qujiang SWI'...$10, $20, or even $100 will go a long way to making those small children's lives a little more bearable.
Blessings to all!
excerpt from LWB letter
Dear Hayley
They do have some needs: They have been using cheap quality gas water heaters, and they tend to break down often from so much use. So they have been thinking about investing in a good solar water heater. It's humongous (2000 litres) and expensive at $3,332-$3,998.
They also said if it was possible, they would love to get an industrial spin-drier. The cost on that is $2399-$2665. They do already have a working washer and dryer, so I'd say that is a much lower priority.
Thank you!
Jan

Thank you for telling us all how we can help, little by little it all adds up!
I looked up how far pretty small amounts of money goes on LWB's website recently and was surprised (in a good way). How much more "instant gratification" can you get than contributing less than most of us spend on an impulse purchase we don't need can really impact a child's life positively?
